Dr. Shouling Xu directs a research program at Carnegie's Department of Plant Biology in Stanford, CA, and oversees the Carnegie Mass Spectrometry Facility.
The Xu lab focuses on three main areas of research: 1) mapping the plant cell atlas, 2) understanding the mechanisms of alternative splicing and transcription, including the associated machinery, regulation, and impact on plants, and 3) dissecting nutrient sensing, specifically O-GlcNAcylation and O-fucosylation.
The Carnegie Mass Spectrometry Facility collaborates with Carnegie labs in Palo Alto and Baltimore, Stanford labs, and labs across the country to develop and adapt proteomic tools to advance biological studies. The facility specializes in state-of-the-art mass spectrometry technologies, including PL-MS and XL-MS, and has published several papers in collaboration with various research groups.
