KuehnelShe/Her
As a Scientific Programmer for the Astronomy, Observational Seismology, and Volcanology groups, I provide computer programming assistance, scientific software support and computer related technical assistance. I screen, process and archive scientific data. I maintain the data storage units, some computer clusters where data processing is performed and lab computers.
I assist the scientific staff with any issues related to scientific software and programming environments in Mac OS, Linux and Windows machines. I have experience with procedural and object-oriented programming languages. I create new programs/applications and support existing work by coding and troubleshooting in shell scripting, IDL, python, R, Latex, HTML, JavaScript, SQL, MATLAB and Fortran (among other languages/frameworks).
As a Geophysical Technician for the Observational Seismology and Volcanology groups, I maintain geophysical equipment, provide lab organization, maintain instruments inventory, and assist with packaging and moving equipment for shipment to field locations. I am also working on digitizing legacy magnetic tapes from old seismic stations.
