Erik Hauri, who studies how planetary processes affect the chemistry of the Earth, Moon and other objects, was made a fellow of both the Geochemical Society and European Association of Geochemistry.
Hauri studies isotopic and chemical evolution of the Earth's deep interior by modeling the flow and melting in mantle plumes; byusing high-pressure experimental petrology and secondary ion mass spectrometry. He received his B.S. in Geology and Marine Science from University of Miami and his Ph.D. from MIT and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, where he was also a postdoctoral investigator. He joined the Carnegie staff in 1994.
