Earth and Planets Laboratory Director Michael Walter, an experimental petrologist who studies deep-Earth minerals and melts to elucidate the formation and evolution of our planet’s dynamic interior, will be honored with the American Geophysical Union’s Normal L. Bowen Award at the organization’s annual Fall Meeting in December.
Postdoc Ming Hao was awarded the 2022 Mineral and Rock Physics Graduate Research Award by AGU. The award was given for Hao’s work studying the seismic velocities of mantle minerals under pressure during his time as a graduate student at the University of New Mexico.
After two years of virtual events, the 15th Annual Carnegie Science Alumni Reception was back in person!
The Carnegie Institution for Science’s Earth and Planets Laboratory went all out this year at the American Geophysical Union’s Fall Meeting, which ran from December 12 - 16, 2022, in Chicago, IL.
H.O. Woods Chair Lara Wagner was recently elected as the Chair of the newly founded EarthScope Consortium’s Board of Directors.
