Chemist by training in college, I have moved to plant-soil ecological studies of High Altitude/High Latitude systems. Fieldwork has been in the Rocky Mountains, Hawai'i, Northern Alaska, boreal forest of Canada, and the Aleutian Islands since 1994. Over the last 5 years, I developed an interest in the interactions of mammals with soil processes, especially in the Tropics.
