Andrey
Malkovskiy
Before joining Carnegie Institute for Science, Andrey Malkovskiy (PhD) was a researcher at Stanford University. His research focuses on cell mechanobiology, as well as binding interactions between proteins and ligands, studied by physiochemical methods of Raman spectroscopy, AFM force-distance microscopy and other microscopy techniques (SEM, TEM, UV-Vis, FTIR, DLS, CD, Raman, fluorescence). His other studies involve characterization of morphology and composition of different tissues by Raman spectroscopy, fluorescence, microCT and other imaging techniques. He has also extended the application of Raman spectroscopy, a physicochemical characterization technique, to the study of the state of antibacterial protection mechanism in patients affected by cystic fibrosis (CF) disease, as well as for monitoring the efficacy of current and promising future treatments on the well-being of CF patients. Andrey has extensive experience in AFM force-distance experiments, its application to study tissue and cell viscoelasticity and real-time response of cell contractility to various drugs and external stimuli.
