Ashwini
Ramesh
Ashwini Ramesh is an infectious disease ecologist researching ecological solutions for epidemiological challenges. Employing a mechanistic, niche-based approach, she integrates parasite dynamics both within and outside hosts. Her research synthesizes diverse theoretical and empirical techniques, studying intersections of disease ecology with immunology, consumer-resource theory, and clinical sciences. Ramesh's work combines observation-driven inquiries, experimental validations, and mathematical modeling to advance theory. As a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow at Michigan State University, she investigates climate change's influence on within-host infection dynamics through mathematical modeling and experiments, collaborating with Nina Wale and Chris Klausmeier. During her tenure at the Carnegie Institution, Ramesh continues her collaboration with Klausmeier, focusing on developing new theoretical frameworks to elucidate how temperature and nutrient regimes exacerbate disease at the individual level under climate change. She is working in the lab of Dr. Elena Litchman.
