Jessica Moore, the associate director of financial planning and budgeting at the Carnegie Institution for Science, will lead a postdoc workshop* titled "Creating a Successful Cost Proposal" at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, in the Abelson Collaboration Center as part of DTM's Postdoc Workshop Series.
Securing external funding, whether from the US Government or private donors, is important to the success of many scientific research projects. In order to submit a successful cost proposal, it is essential to understand the regulatory environment as well as fundamentals of budget development. In this presentation, we will examine the new Uniform Guidance from the US Government, understand the critical areas to review when looking at any request for proposal, and discuss best practices for developing an accurate budget.
