Nick Mancinelli, a postdoctoral research associate at Brown University, will give a talk titled "Unraveling mantle mixing from scattered seismic signals" at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016, in the Greenewalt Lecture Hall as part of DTM's Weekly Seminar Series.

Mancinelli received his Ph.D. in geophysics and seismology from the University of California, San Diego, in 2016. He is primarily interested in using observations of scattered seismic waves to improve understanding of Earth structure. In particular, he is interested in structure that is beyond the resolving capability of conventional tomography. For his Ph.D., he conducted global studies of scattered body waves to improve constraints on the length-scales and strength of heterogeneity throughout the mantle.

Coffee, tea, and a continental breakfast will be served before the lecture at 10:30 a.m.
