Eric David, a student at Pasadena City College, joins the Carnegie Observatories as a project research assistant after a summer internship with Maren Cosens, continuing their work on how newborn stars pump energy, radiation, and material back into their surrounding gas clouds in the Magellanic Clouds. He traces this “stellar feedback,” which helps decide where the next generation of stars forms, using sweeping maps of glowing gas from the Local Volume Mapper, a Sloan Digital Sky Survey facility at Carnegie’s Las Campanas Observatory.
