McConachie
Ian McConachie studies how the most massive galaxies in the early universe grew up fast and then stopped forming stars surprisingly early, and how their cosmic neighborhoods shaped that path. He earned his PhD from UC Riverside, where he studied massive galaxies in protoclusters, the dense, still-forming ancestors of today’s largest galaxy clusters. He then worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Wisconsin–Madison on RUBIES, a James Webb Space Telescope survey of distant galaxies, before joining the Carnegie Observatories as a postdoctoral fellow.
