Jiwoon Hwang is a microbial oceanographer. Her work during her PhD studying lipidomics of algae across the world's oceans led her to conduct research in the Burlacot Lab, trying to understand the molecular tuning mechanisms of algal photosynthesis using the green microalgae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii as a model organism.
