James
Gurian
James Gurian studies how the universe’s first stars formed and what dark matter is made of, including whether some forms of dark matter could clump into dense objects that ordinary stars never could. He earned his bachelor’s in mathematics and physics from Case Western Reserve University and his PhD in astronomy and astrophysics from Penn State, then was a postdoctoral fellow at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Canada before joining the Carnegie Observatories as a postdoctoral fellow.
