The Global Ecology team recently completed the airborne phase of a new project to map 35 million acres of tropical forest in the Colombian Amazon. The project seeks to quantify the carbon composition of the underexplored Colombian Amazon, and at the same time, to support Colombia’s environment programs and their scientific capacity in the international REDD (reduced emissions from deforestation and degradation) arena.Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos toured the area .
