she thinks marriage a failure I guess and then she sees some things about me that she thinks are going to make me cranky, remind her so much of my Uncle I guess because I am an Ault. But I tell her that she does not know me, and that I have lots of confidence in my little girl, that I know I shall be happy and can make her happy. We were sitting on the lounge talking the other night and I had a cushion on my knees, a cushion with a girl's face on it and I began to smooth the hair back from the forehead, or going thro' the motions and just wishing it were a real girl, the real girl, and I could not help saying to my Aunt "That is the kind of man I am going to be", and she said that I was alright, that if I was always like that to you that I would be alright. Oh. Darling may God help me always to be tender and loving to you. I do want to be, so much. It don't seem to me that I can ever knowingly be cruel to you or hurt you. I am so glad you have such a loving forgiving disposition. It will make it easier for me to be thoughtful.
